About accounts
Red Hat Marketplace accounts are entities you associate marketplace users to.
Owner role and payment method
By default, Red Hat Marketplace assigns the Owner role to the user who creates the account. The owner provides and maintains the payment method for the account. Red Hat Marketplace charges all purchases on the account to the payment method provided by the owner.
Update account name
Prerequisites
- Get Owner role.
Procedure
- On the main menu, click your account name, and then click Account settings.
- On the Account information section, click the Edit button (pencil icon).
- To update account name, on the Account name box, enter a new account name.
- Click Save.
Result
You updated your account name. The new name shows on the main navigation, on user profiles associated to the account, and so on.
Get account ID
Procedure
- On the main menu, click your account name, and then click Account settings.
Result
The Account ID shows on the page.
Account settings field descriptions
The following describes fields on the Account settings page.
Field | description |

Account name | shows on the main navigation, on user profiles associated to the account, and so on. |
Account ID | identifies the account. |
Status | indicates account’s access to Red Hat Marketplace features. Status values include, Active and Pending. |
Red Hat account | unique number associated to your Red Hat login. |
Link Red Hat account with Red Hat Marketplace account
Linking accounts helps ensure a seamless experience between Red Hat and the marketplace when purchasing Red Hat products.
Prerequisites
- Create a Red Hat account.
- Get Owner role.
About this task
To link accounts, the Owner must register for Red Hat Marketplace using the same email address as their Red Hat account.
Procedure
- On the main menu, click your account name, and then click Account settings.
- On the Account Linking section, click the Edit button (pencil icon).
- On the Red Hat Account list, select an email address. When no email address shows, create a Red Hat account, and then click Refresh.
Result
Your accounts are linked.
