About private offers

Sellers of commerce-enabled products can use private offers in Red Hat Marketplace to create a customized quote for a customer in a commerce-ready country. Subscription terms, pricing, billing frequencies, unit quantity and non-public edition listings can be configured to create private quotes unique to each customer.

Private offers include the following features:

  • Customer review and approval workflows.
  • Both seller and customer notifications throughout the lifecycle of the offer.
  • Red Hat Marketplace managed invoicing and payment processing.
  • Product fulfillment upon offer acceptance.
  • Option to set future start dates of entitlements.
  • Option to adjust pricing, quantity, and terms within a single contract.
  • Attachment support to record service agreements or custom vendor terms associated with the offer.
  • Clearly displayed annual (ACV) and total (TCV) contract values.
  • Option to request assistance from Red Hat Marketplace staff to help with offer creation, customer communications, and customer acceptance.

To create, send, and manage private offers, on Partner portal, navigate to Private offers.


  • On Partner portal, on the main menu, click Sales, and then click Private offers.


The Private offers page shows.

Create a private offer



  1. Navigate to Private offers.
  2. Click Create offer.
  3. Complete private offer fields.
  4. To add ramp-up pricing, on Create ramps, select Yes, and then complete ramp fields. By default, No is selected.
  5. Click Submit for review.


The private offer status changes from Draft to Pending approval.

Next steps

A Customer Success Manager reviews and approves the private offer, and then routes the offer to the associated customer account.

Private offer field descriptions

The following describes fields for private offer purchase details.

Account IDThe marketplace account associated to the customer receiving the offer. Required.
Offer expiration dateThe date the offer expires. After expiration, the customer can no longer accept the offer. Offers expire at midnight GMT+12, on the date you select. For reference, EST is GMT-5, PST is GMT-8. GMT+12 can be converted to local time using Google search. Required.
ProductIncludes products associated to the partner account. Required.
EditionLists the editions available for the product. Required.
Billing termOffers the full range of available terms (monthly, quarterly, and annual) and is not associated to billing terms configured during product pricing set up. Required.
Start dateUse to set a future start date. Optional. This date must come after your offer expiration date.
Subscription termOffers the full range of available terms (1 - 60 months) and is not associated to subscription terms configured during product pricing set up. Required.
AttachmentsUse to attach additional documents to the offer. Customers can download attachments. Optional.
CommentsUse to provide additional information to the customer. Optional.
Number of instancesThe number of entitlements available to the customer upon offer acceptance. Required.
Unit priceThe offer price, per month, for each instance. Required.
Ramp durationRamps can be enabled when a private offer’s term is set for greater than one month. The sum of ramp durations must equal the private offer subscription term. Example: Private offer term: 3 years. Ramp 1: 8 months Ramp 2: 12 months Ramp 3: 16 months.
Red Hat Marketplace (sponsored) discountsWhen your offer qualifies for a marketplace discount, contact your Customer Success Manager for guidance on discount setup, as additional requirements may apply based on the complexity of the offer.

About start date

By default, immediately after customers accept a private offer, the marketplace processes customer payment and fulfills the purchase. To delay payment processing and entitlement fulfillment, on Start date, enter a future date. The future date instructs the marketplace on when to process customer payment and fulfill entitlements upon private offer acceptance.

About ramps

Ramps enable complex deal structures within private offers by expanding the interface to allow the addition of multiple phases within an offer. Red Hat Marketplace Partners can increase or decrease term length, pricing, and quantity of their product multiple times over the course of a single contract.

Ramps allow partners to exercise multiple configurations within a subscription term. For example, during a 36-month subscription term, a partner can offer one price for the first 12 months, add more licenses and a change in price for the next 12 months, and apply final price adjustment on the last 12 months.

Private offer status descriptions

The following describes private offer status.
